When George Liberatore and I started MVP in 1980 not only was there no YouTube, there wasn’t even VHS. OK, the format existed, but hardly anyone had a player. When we shot our first corporate video, Channel 10 (PBS in Milwaukee) thought it was so unusual that they sent a crew out to tape our crew.

The project was an overview for Krones, a Franklin, WI manufacturer of bottle-labeling equipment for the breweries. We taped at the Krones plant, at Miller and at Budweiser and kicked off 30 years of creating sales and marketing videos for Wisconsin businesses.

At the time, a 30-foot Winnebago housed all of our equipment. We used it for multi-camera sporting events, but also to edit everything we shot. That meant a lot of long hours in very cramped quarters.

We’ve got two clips today. Clip 1 is my story of the shoot, using the footage that Channel 10 shot. And Clip 2 is a shortened version of the finished Krones project, narrated by the late Merle Harmon, the first voice of the Milwaukee Brewers.

(Special thanks to John and Mary Cary for letting us use their home for the kitchen scenes – and again to Mary for appearing as the “shopper.” John, Do I still owe you lunch for this?)
