Cousins Subs

Before erstwhile Community showrunner Dan Harmon had the opportunity to create the cult-favorite NBC sitcom, he launched a comedic career in his hometown of Milwaukee as a young actor in the mid-nineties.

While digging through the Midland Video archive, we stumbled across a gem. In 1995, Cousins Subs reached out to Midland Video Productions to create an employee training video that taught employees how to deliver exemplary customer service. The result was an Oscar-worthy performance from a fresh-faced Dan Harmon and his future writing partner Rob Schrab. The video, artfully titled “The Other Side of the Counter” shows how, back in 1995, Harmon and Schrab (also alumni of Milwaukee’s famed ComedySportz improv troupe) were successfully slinging subs and bringing the laughs, while we at Midland Video were hard at work serving up high-quality videos for our many satisfied clients.

Around the World

Here at Midland, we always have a special fondness for overseas adventures. As January comes to a close, we find ourselves reminiscing about a month-long around-the-world excursion we took in January 2011 to The Netherlands, the French Alps, Japan and India. Check out the slideshow below to see some photos from our interesting shooting locations in these remarkable areas.

Animation to the Rescue

Miller St. Nazianz

It’s the middle of winter but you still need a marketing video for your new piece of agricultural equipment. Now what?

Miller St. Nazianz came to us with that problem recently and we knew right away that location taping was out of the question. The featured product was the Nitro 5000 Sprayer which looks great in a corn field in August but that wasn’t an option. Their all-important trade shows were starting in January so they had to have something now – and it had to be impressive.

Animation to the rescue.

We spent two months creating a Nitro 5000 and a corn field out of digits and pixels and delivered a finished 2-minute marketing piece in time for the first trade show of the season. As our animated camera flew around the new Nitro, we zoomed in to the comfortable cab, the long sprayer boom and the independent suspension.

And then, because the product is popular in the former soviet republics and Russia, we created a second version with Russian graphics.

Take a look at the finished video. You might decide you want one just to drive around the neighborhood.
